Sonnet 292

  1. Sonnet 292

    The eyes I spoke of once in words that burn,
    the arms and hands and feet and lovely face
    that took me from myself for such a space
    of time and marked me out from other men;

    the waving hair of unmixed gold that shone,
    the smile that flashed with the angelic rays
    that used to make this earth a paradise,
    are now a little dust, all feeling gone;

    and yet I live, grief and disdain to me,
    left where the light I cherished never shows,
    in fragile bark on the tempestuous sea.

    Here let my loving song come to a close;
    the vein of my accustomed art is dry,
    and this, my lyre, turned at last to tears.

    My response to sonnet 292

    I believe that sonnet 292 is talking about how he fell in love so deep in love that it led him to separate himself from the world, and only focused on his love. I believe he states “The eyes I spoke of once in words that burn”, because he actually regrets falling in love because he now feels like something is missing, that is why he says “words that burn” I also believe that he is saying that his life has changed and he doesn’t think it could or would go back without the love that he once had, but let slip through his fingers.

  2. True love

    When I think about a strong loving relationship I think about my staff Carolyn and her fiancĂ© Sam. They have been together for three years, but have been friends for eight years. Both Sam and Carolyn try their hardest to be patient with one another even when they don’t agree. When it comes to making big decisions or problems they always talk everything out. Above all they put each other before themselves and consider each other a team. These qualities help their love to grow and have led them to getting married
